Cranvel loader was created by Tone
Hi all,
I own an old Cranvel Loader, super lift model based on a Chamberlain with a 4cyl Perkins. It has the Funk auto box with high/ low range box in series. Can anyone tell me about this model and in particular what year is mine? I am also chasing some advice on rear end lubrication.
I'll try and attach some pics.

Looks like a Mk 3 Champion industrial.,68 to 74?........Cranvel always used the Funk ReverseO Matic tranny, when the standard was a Borg Warner Velvetdrive........Anyway,seeing as its a forklift ,and doesnt do hard work,I would use a thick gear oil in the back end,but not an EP oil..........In my Mk2 and Mk3 I use a very thick oil called "steam cylinder oil".........thick and sticks to gears to prevent rust.......But ,if you want to,you could just use a 140 EP diff oil...........but first make sure no water gets in cause it will cause bad rust.

How do I drain the rear end of old oil? Sounds like a silly question....I can see the two filler bungs on each side behind each wheel....but can't see a drain point?

There is a plug on the inside face of each housing, might be hard to get at due to the bracing between the housings......surprised you haven got a counterweight there....The cranes are hard to get at because of the big counterweight.
