Used to be an old truck wrecker at Laurel Hill , between Batlow and Tumbarumba, he had heaps of ex timber yard Blitz trucks , one of them had a Straight 8 engine conversion. He had a Alsatian dog and you had to be careful , sometimes he was grumpy - other times he was friendly. He had one of the rare air transportable GMC 6x6 trucks , the chassis was split into two halves so it could be loaded in a DC3. He was telling me, after the war, he used to buy Blitz trucks from a surplus dealer in Sydney and sell them to the timber mills . I thiink he was also a auto electrician. He told me there were a few ex army Guy 4x4 gun tractors working in the area afterthe war. . He chucked me out once , he got old and senile.

Hi,
I can't say I can see Yass on the Golden Fleece sign but here is a more recent image from www.aussietowns.com.au/town/yass-nsw taken from slightly further down the hill.

Been doing some work on my slasher, I know it's not a truck, it is definitely historic, probably a commercial vehicle so just sneaks under the radar.
First time I've replaced a sprocket. I machined off the old sprocket, turned to slight undersize, heat and press on the blank, then weld it. I do enjoy lathe work.
Next job, make an oil filler plug. The old one (plastic) broke and I tried to buy a new one but they are not available in AU.
First time I've ever cut a thread and quite pleased with the result. I started with a 30mm round bar.

I wonder if the blind man in the purple jumper found his guide dog who was hiding behind the ICE sign?
