Hello Cobbadog,
For what I imagine your engine is going to be doing in the future could this be doable? With a 100 mil angle grinder using a cut off wheel take away part of the unworn sides of the cam enabling a bit of flat strap curved to the original shape to be brazed in, filling any gaps with bronze as well.
Cheers, David.

Smells like a Tooheys Old?
You are welcome to drink my share, mate.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Cobba: I run 10%, but the current batch is a bit weaker and still working fine. I would definitely drain, scrub/blast and refill every day, or two.

I should add some yeast and more sugar and let it brew peoperly.
When I do have a beer Tooheys Old is my first choice but the days of 10 - 12 schooners a night are long gone. So when I now have a beer the first doesnt touch the sides, 3 mouth fulls and the schooner has evapourated, 2nd one goes down somewhat slower.
Something else that happened today with the cam is I went to visit a small engineering company today and left it with him. He was super confident about welding it up with no issues so will see soon enough. I will linish it back to shape when its done. I do have a template shaped to the correct size and angles and is a neat fit onto the original shape of the cam. So although I have not done anything with the bore other than clean out the oiler hole I can now look at the piston and rings and see what needs attention there.

Probably because it was posted sideways and without a top on the bottle?

Just to keep on annoying you lot with my fun here is the next episode.
Started on the piston today. Cleaned it up a bit and found a unique way of removing the rings over all those ring glands by using the ring compressor back to front and it worked well. Piston is stamped with STD on top and has nothing to do with any diseases that get around. I stacked up the rings that came off the piston and roughly leveled up one end and found the other ends are all over the place.

Cobbba,

I've never seen a ring compressor used like that. I'll keep it in mind.

I noticed the rings get longer the lower down the set you go.

Could this be because the top of the piston is hotter than the bottom and hence needs more cold clearance?
