G'day Guys.

I am hoping you may be able to help me I have recently purchased a Chamberlains backhoe.

I have been looked everywhere to try ID it. My understanding is that the model number should be on the front LHS chassis. I can't find it there or anywhere else.

I also can't find the engine number anywhere. I've found the casting number.

Can anyone help please

From Memory ,the Engine number is Stamped On the Topdeck of the Block just below the head gasket on the LHS.. But it's being a While & I may have it wrong..

That looks exactly like the one I scrapped about six months ago......from recall ,it was a 709 model...or maybe a 907......Chamberlain tractor ,the hoe is entirely JD .....Incidentally ,I missed scrapping the hoe,and its still living in a clump of weeds out the side of my house................The one I scrapped had a Perkins 4/236 or maybe a 4/212.....very hard to tell the difference ,the 212 had a 1/2 shorter stroke ,otherwise identical........had a broken crankshaft, not exactky rare in the model ,dunno why ,usually a very reliable motor........EDIT,inclined towards 907 ,dunno why.

Nice hoe and hope it will be put back to work again one day. As for a broken crank shaft, anything can be broken when put into the wrong hands

There are several old threads here on the forum that i think are similar.

Use the search function for CJD and see if any old posts are helpful.

You will find it has a Borg Warner Velvetdrive F & R shuttle shift ,driving into the Chamberlain 4 speed back end........the back axle is a copy of the MF 50 with planetary drive of the flanged axle .......has the standard Chamberlain diff centre with no lockout.......The hoe is a straight John Deere imported from the US......I think the hoe is a Model 92 ,did know at one time ,cant recall............I saved the hoe off mine because it has a new rotator assy.
