As a longtime 554 operator I have observed a vast difference in the performance of " Start ya Barstard" and the genuine "Aerostart" product, despite info on the tin that indicates that they are the same. Now I only buy Aerostart

Injector Jack I’ve found the same thing what you save on price you lose on the amount you have to spray down their throats to get noise
I sometimes think they develop a taste for the stuff

Interesting Jack my cousin who owned 4 of these mentioned the same thing. He said he tried all the various aerostart type products but for 30 years would only buy the stuff from the International Case dealer saying the performance was so much better than other products.
He did say a small one second sniff was the way to do it and more was definitely not better.

The Landcruiser gloplug kit arrived.
What an easy job. Just took out each gloplug/injector block, knockd out the old plug, inserted the thread adapter with the provided tool and screwed the new plug in.
Less than an hour from the start no. 1, 2 and 3 cylinder were all back in place.
It is now the second day and there is no way I can get the number 4 block out. I have hammered, WD40'd, wedged and heated. No way I can leave the block in place and remove the old plug in-situ (the others took a serious whack to drive them out from the bottom)
It moves up about 2mm with extreme provocation. Thinking I could work on this progress I have wedged it up and hammered it back down about 30 times but no increase in movement. The others showed signs of rust in the hole but a couple of light taps had them popping out.
Anyhow I gave up and will wire up the others in the morning. As Meatloaf sang

I would agree, reckon if three fire it will be plenty to keep it motivating along until number 4 starts, with extra speed will bevonly moments of running and the heat will be there

Three should be enough Lang.

It will start with only 3 glow plugs working, but may take up to 15-20 seconds for the cold cylinder to fire, the exhaust smoke to clear, and to run smoothly.
I can always tell when i have a dead glow plug, as that cylinder takes a while to come "online".

Lang just a thought tighten 12&3 down put the nuts on no4 just far enough to stop the injector body going into orbit and start her up please yourself wether you put the injector line on no4 might give it a bit more of a jolt if it fires as well
If you loosen the glow plug retaining nut as well it might pop the glow plug which would do the job for you anyway
Cheers Bluey

I will give it a go with 3 plugs and if successful leave well enough alone. If there is some sort of unsatisfactory result I will certainly try the compression loosening method. Hope it does not pop the plug out as the hollow threaded holder is completely buggered and I can not move it even with cold chisel and heat.

I heard a story years ago from a local IH mechanic along the lines of starting engine with injector body loose, but i didn't mention it earlier as i didn't want to repeat it incorrectly. Bluey's description sounds about right though, however i think the story i was told did end with the injector body launching into orbit! Well as far as the shed roof anyhow, then back to earth, all very quickly.
