Sorry Dave
too big for us to shift
everything has to be less then 5.00m tall (loaded height)
the photo looks not quite right in proportion
it appears the front half of the cab is missing exposeing the winding drums
Thinking Leigh Creek had a electric faceshovel fire many years ago

Thinkin these pics are from 50 years ago
where we sent the Attachment truck an hour earlier to grab the Backactor attahment (no crane needed }
followed by the float to move the Shovel (may have been a North West )

Thanks for all the comments. To help decide the make of the shovel I have enlarged my photo as much as possible to still be legible then cropped this part of the boom so I will add this photo here. The writing seems to be MAR for the first three letters and then possibly ION. After this there seems to be some letters but not on a white background, maybe the model number.
Why I thought this was from the 1950s was some of the other photos were from then including cars from the 1953 Redex Round Australia Rally but I have not shown these here because there are no commercial vehicles in these rally photos.

Seems every make of US or UK shovel came to OZ .........There is a letter to the Age by Alfred T Harman complaining about the govt allowing foreign cranes into the country ,when his own make of cranes were available ............The reply from the State Electric Comission was that Harman cranes were rubbish ,and they couldnt afford to have lengthy breakdowns.

I wonder how many of the people in the photo, are still alive. I'm guessing the photo was taken within ten years of the war ending.

I often think the same when I look at old photos. Sad really. Life is too short. Have to do your best first time, because you only get one chance.
