After sorting the dirty points n confirming spark I had to time the flywheel as it does not locate on a keyway. Line up all the lines, one on the crankshaft at 12 o'clock then both on the flywheel to stator plate then tighten the centre nut.
would start n run but when stopped it slipped. Nut not tight enough so after 3 times our came the rattle gun, sorted.
next the fuel line started weeping. I guess at its age n all the moving about of lat it finally giving up. So will sort something out for that. Not sure if to fit solid copper all the way or find someone to replace the flexible hose using crimp on parts as original.
Also discovered the engine has 2 sump plugs for draining excess fuel oil mix out, the one closest to the gearbox was leaking. So undid the engine nuts to slide it back enough to tighten. These bolts are a nightmare to get at the top 2 but got it done. Did a couple of test runs n starts n life is all good again. Will get some nice pics out in the sun tomorrow even with a leaky fuel line.
Also cleaned up the air filter. It is a Villiers but has Cooper on it as well, strange

If you very carefully cut the crimped outer part of the fittings off from around the fuel hose with a fine blade hacksaw, you should then be able to pull the old hose off of the fittings.  You will likely find the original pipe fittings to be barbed, and so you can simply fit a new section of fuel hose, and secure with some form of hose clamps.  The little spring type clamps that are applied by squeezing the legs with a pair of pliers (that type often come with a new Ryco inline fuel filter), might look more correct than a worm drive clamp.  If the new hose is a good fit, you might not even need clamps.

Brett.

Villiers would be sued with a Shine Lawyers mass lawsuit for that air cleaner today.

Swill in Petrol - 1,625 people lost their sense of taste doing this.

Soak in Oil - 8,135 people suffered rashes after filling their bath with oil.

Drain before use - 275 people have pending court cases with EPA and local councils for draining said oil into the sewer system

A further 10,680 people are suing Villiers for engine damage from blocked filters which failed to operate even after carrying out the above instructions.

180 that sounds like the plan. Last time I went looking for rubber srtyle fuel line to fit an inline fuel filter there was a world wide shortage of the stuff, well in Taree.
I can live with new rubber flex, could even reuse the wire coil on the outside and those little spring clips I think I have in a tool box. Sounds the go to me.
Swishy, doing a burnem burnem might be a bit risky but if my nice razor sharp knife wont cut the old rubber off that is the plan, send a smoke signal across the valley to oliver1952.

Interesting to see the spiral fitting to match the spring wire. So unless you reuse the spring I guess you will have trouble trying to get a seal.

Well here it is. Just fitted standard 1/4" bore fuel hose using those spring hose clips. New line is 3/8" od which is just right to hold the hose firm.
that spiral is machined just like an Acme thread but using a normal cutting tool. No fuel leaks so good to go.
