Can you share the gearbox part numbers?

Thinking again, that can be dangerous.

An early swing axle Kombi reduction box would work.

The deck would spin and other 400rpm faster but it would work as they are a two gear set up.

Can you put up a photo of the blades.

I assume they are just steel bar either mild steel or high tensile.

It would not be rocket science to bend some bar a mirror image of the existing blades saving all this gearbox drama. I think mild steel would work great but an old spring would work if you wanted high tensile.

Probably judicious heat on the existing blades could reverse the current offset and sharpen the back side.

Are you able to turn the gearbox 180 degrees so that the input shaft faces forward, and then run a much longer PTO shaft out either past or above it to a short solid mounted shaft, and then couple the two by belt or chain, right out the front?  Deck lift height might limit running a long PTO shaft though.

Brett.

Here's a couple of photos of the blades.,  I don't think you could replicate them in a reverse pattern due to the bends in them. If I did this it would still try and shed the nuts and blade.

I could grind a cutting edge on the trailing edge as this would improve the cut and perhaps lighten the load on the retaining nuts.

I did some more Googling last night and I've found some boxes that may work.  Just a matter of getting my head around mounting the blades and checking both output shafts run the right way.  It would be no good having all 3 belts running clockwise, whilst the middle blade spun CCW!

I have made a stopgap effort by welding lengths of steel on the blades each side of the spindles so the blade doesn't want to undo the nut, but I do still lose nuts and blades, but not every half an hour, more like every 12-15 hours.

I mow around 4 acres with this mower and it takes a couple of hours so the blades aren't falling off every time I get on it.

I'd still be taking the cover of the gearbox and seeing what options there are with the crown wheel.

A gear box manufacturer would be crazy not to make it a CW/CWW configurable.

If you spun the deck around the otherway so the shaft points forward
And then spun the gear box around to point the way it was

The belt would then be on the opposite side of the pulley so it would mean everything would be spinning the correct way

The pulley on the gear box would still be spinning the same way but the belt would then be on front side of the pulley instead of the rear side so the belt would then be moving the opposite direction

Or at least I think this is the case

I would have to draw it out on a sheet of paper to be sure

Flipping blades over makes no difference.

The flat bar is certainly worth a try. A judicious bend toward the end in the vice would bring it pretty close to original specs but lots of serious heavy slashers have horizontal blades with no twist.
