Well here are some pics of the locos I've resurrected. Two of them I've had for close on 60 years n needed their first service, ever but being Triang Hornby you would expect that. My layout is based around the early 1900s so most of the locos don't suit but some do. So far the rest have been Lima brand n are totally different in design of the electric motors which I find are a bit weak. These are the 2 Triang locos

Some more pics. The last one is now running but I need to make some side rods then screw them to the wheels. Hope to get some tiny BA screws when in town tomorrow.
There are still more locos to be done, all in hood time.

Here is the Lima diesel loco. Not sure yet why he slows down so much climbing the mountain but it's almost realistic.

Last one for now is the larger loco with Australian National Railways on it. It had a wire disconnected on the front boggies. It uses a 1 inch cube block of steel  for balast n traction

Nice !

The X04 Triang motors last forever, they have a certain whine and smell. I've driven past the old Moldex factory in Melbourne , when they liquidated the stock, somebody got lucky and purchased many thousands of the leftover new parts, he sells the stuff on ebay.

There are excellent books on Triang Hornby trains written by Pat Hammond .

Was Lima the less expensive option ?  Hornby is now made in China .

The Rail Museum at Bathurst has miniature railway, next to the station, it is a beauty and also the miniature Railway building at Dubbo show ground in the club building are both worth the effort, Dubbo is weekends I think, we always spend a few hours there when we go to the Dubbo truck show, apparently there is a whole house full just out of Dubbo.
