I know nothing about model trains but this looks like a great addition to any set-up.

Been few good sized model railways I have visited over the years
the stand out for me was Alpinerail in Tasmania, apparently permanently closed

Was over 40 years ago when I saw it

Martins Creek.

A friend has built this from scratch. Almost everything was made.

I'm not into trains but spent a good few hours in awe of everything.

Nice !

The X04 Triang motors last forever, they have a certain whine and smell. I've driven past the old Moldex factory in Melbourne , when they liquidated the stock, somebody got lucky and purchased many thousands of the leftover new parts, he sells the stuff on ebay.

There are excellent books on Triang Hornby trains written by Pat Hammond .

Watched a series last year on hornby who still design and test new lines in every field they are involved in but yes, built in China

Was Lima the less expensive option ?  Hornby is now made in China .

The Rail Museum at Bathurst has miniature railway, next to the station, it is a beauty and also the miniature Railway building at Dubbo show ground in the club building are both worth the effort, Dubbo is weekends I think, we always spend a few hours there when we go to the Dubbo truck show, apparently there is a whole house full just out of Dubbo.

Yes, the Bathurst layout is very detailed from all over the district. Spoke to one of the members there that teaches for free anyone who wants to learn how to build scenes. I have many pics of their layout, it is very good.

Yes Cobba the Bathurst one is good, it has a lot of local rail yards depicted as well as the Bathurst main yard and workshops The old bloke next door had a room full years ago a great set up, but I was in the room over Christmas doing a couple of emergency electrical repairs for the current generation (grand kids) and it was all gone, bits of religious nut jobs so the best hope is the it didn't go to the tip. Didn't ask.

Thanks for sharing Cobbadog.  I am glad to see that I am not the only model train person on here.

I am currently selling a layout that is a smidgeon under 3m x 1.5m in N scale.  It can run 4 trains continuously while you operate the engine shed and turntable and features a trestle bridge over 3ft long,  Unfortunately the time has come to downsize due to my mobility issues.

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!
