Just thought I'd share some pictures of my 9G this tractor went around Australia in 2000 and has not done much since, I've been on a mission to get it back to a standard tractor and recently have pulled my finger out.
Fixing things one big shifter at a time

Surprising it has lightweight front wheels .....usually had cast iron with 20"tires............I made a big mistake working for the sandblasters ...they had a full carton of new MkII Champion manuals.........never touched ......I should have taken it when I quit ...the new manager would have dumped it for sure with his cleanup obsession..

The industrial version had the solid front axle and larger tyres on cast iron wheels. This is my restored Chamberlain MK2 for reference.Surprising it has lightweight front wheels .....usually had cast iron with 20"tires............I made a big mistake working for the sandblasters ...they had a full carton of new MkII Champion manuals.........never touched ......I should have taken it when I quit ...the new manager would have dumped it for sure with his cleanup obsession.

I think it was the Champion model that became Tail End Charlie. He had the heavy front axle n wheels but the fitted a transverse leaf spring with shock absorber plus the upgrade diff from a truck to do the excessive speeds in the Redex Trial

Dunno about the truck diff
I think just cast wheels and shock absorbers fitted to the front
The backend was still the tractor backend with custom diff and final drive ratios fitted
The ass end of a Chamberlain is kinda very important as it holds the rest of the tractor together
Cast front wheels were available for Chamberlain tractors and often fitted to tractors with 3pl
Even with just a draw bar tractor a lot of weight is needed out the front to steer it under heavy drawbar load
C670 and C6100 often have water added to the front tyres to add weight
A Chamberlain will, when hitched correctly, suck right down into the paddock until it stalls in first gear
The manual says to lift the draw bar height until steering can be just maintained

Tail end Charlie was put together in 1955 as a promotion for the yet to be in production Champion. The custom pinion and crown wheel gave a theoretical top speed of 50mph, however later tests showed that the rolling radius of the tyres increased at speed resulting in a speed over 60mph.
For the 1957 Mobilgas event it had already covered 24,000 road miles and 3162 hours of farm work it then went on to do 10, 738 miles in 19 days as a sweep vehicle ( was not allowed to be an entrant in the trial because of "unfair advantages " over the cars)
