That will be the next thing to check.I would still bet on the filter screen being blocked with fuel fungus.
Thanks, Jarrod.

As I understand it, this came from a small acreage, so wouldn't have worked hard in a long time. Probably lots of short runs. The early Fergy and Ford diesels could become coked up on small properties with lack of hard work at full engine power, rarely warming up.
Carting hay, feeding out, running out the milk cans, mowing, raking and other light jobs.
Owners in the know would put them to hard work for a few hours at full load. Better than paying dealer service to come to the farm, head off and decoke valves, combustion chambers and ports.
Perhaps a carry over from draught horse days, keep them fit for work even if you have to loan to neighbours.
Jarrod.

The engine is the Perkins 3/152 with the Perkins aeroflow swirl chamber head (same as the P series) .........the most common problem with these motors is cracked head ,next most common is severe wear on rear main bearing and crank journal................all the small crank Perks suffer from wear on the rear main.
do these have a timing chain like a P6 Perkins, the chain runs the injector pump
once the chain is stretched the pump is no longer timed, makes them a really bad starter

Watched a clip from Bundy Bear the other day. Apparently timing marks are non existent on the 23c engine. He was using dial indicators on both #4 rockers so have a good look at where everything is b4 stripping
