Whats this Bus please ? was created by
G'day all,

Yesterday a man in the USA sent me this pic asking if it is a Magirus Deutz. I replied No, but I have No Idea what it is at all.
He tells me it is possibly German. I said possibly a Bussing ?

This one may even mystify Tatra :)
But maybe not.

Graf and Stift a new one on you, Roland? You're showing your youth there. In 1914 the Archduke Ferdinand and his wife were travelling in a Graf and Stift when they were shot, which caused the start of the First World War. They made cars, lorries and buses until they were bought out by OAF, who in turn were bought out by MAN. OAF still exists as a maker of heavy haulage tractors and Graf and Stift still exists as a bus manufacturer, using MAN mechanicals in both cases, of course. I don't know if that is what the mystery bus is, though; as Pete says, it's hard to tell with buses but it does look like a 3-pointed star.

Buses, eh, here's where it can get real confusing with what's what.

You could and still can, just buy the rolling chassis of a known maker, eg, Scania, Volvo, Mecedes Benz and many other manufactures, then add a body made by a completely different company.

Here in Brisvegas at the local council bus manufacturing plant, they use a MAN, Scania or Volvo rolling chassis and add on a Volgren body, Volgren is a Volvo subsidiary, confusing eh.

So what you see, sometimes just aint all it appears.
