Good pics of the old field marshals mate.
Have you ever seen them with the great diamond treads bomber tyres fitted.
The Mallee Farmers did a lot of that early 50/60` so they did not stake tyres and on sandy country and new ground they lasted as long as the tractor
for ever-and never dug in.
Fowler Challengers come to mind as belonging to that family as well but maybe over-bladed for their time.
A great wide seat so the clutch operator could have his own spot and the steering levers so far apart they wore yer legs to shreds.
Often wonder how long it took before some inventor put a couple of small hyd rams in there to operate that clutch and levers. ;)

Ian

You wouldnt per chance have a photo in your collection of (any sort) of the tandem tractor set up from the 1960's / 70's era?

What I would live to find is one similar to what I used/drove in the Central Highlands area - a home made set up using a 730 Case (I think it was) with a Fordson Major behind - dragging two ploughs - a 22 and an 18 disc hooked together.

The Case had a basic sanopy - 4 legs and a bit of canvas atop. The 2nd tractor was operated soley by a piece of rope tied to the clutch pedal.

Pull the string from the seat of the Case and tie it off to the canopy leg - to keep the Fordson clutch disengaged. Start the Fordson, select a working gear, kick the throttle open wide. Step on to the Case - get everything selected then untie the clutch rope and all was away. Gradualy set the throttle on the Case to get everything in sync and hook in for as long as possible so the process didnt have to be repeated too often.

I would love a pic of something similar for old times sake. Only flash people owned cameras back then - so photos wernt a common thing.

Gday Ianoz,
Great pics, looked like a good w/e for all involved. I reckon that Chamberlain probably did start life as a 70DA (if you were to look at the right hand chassis rail, the serial number and type is stamped there) but it looks to have been "played" with, not only getting an engine transplant but it also has Super 90 back rims and i dont think that air cleaner looks right either.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers mate,
Slim
