I did an article at the time on the various modes of transport used to bring the Queen's baton to the 2006 Commonwealth Games: trains, trams, aircraft, ships/boats, a golf buggy, a wheelbarrow. It went to St Helena on a supply ship, and to Antarctica on a different one: the whole journey took a year. IIRC vintage trucks/buses/cars didn't figure at all. Here it is in a vintage ski boat, at Bundalong (the top end of Lake Mulwala, where Ovens River joins the Murray).

Bother, the direct link isn't working qbr.melbourne2006.com.au/?s=qbrphotogall...isplay&gid=117&seq=8
It is worth browsing the whole set at the site to look for other interesting locations.

Hello,
I was just reading the other day about Garfield Wood and his timber racing boats, and it is worth the read on Google. He also manufactured trucks and buses as well.

I realise this is an old thread, but in reference to the mention of Glasson on page 1, i bought a marinised Chrysler 313 V8 engine last week, and the aluminium exhaust manifolds are branded "Glasson, Sydney".
