looking for 1975 Bedford bus Steering Ram was created by Linda Ross
Hi all, We have a 1972 Bedford Bus that has a leaking steering ram, was hoping someone would be able to send us in the right direction to get another one. we are up near swan hill in Vic but as with all things we know we will need to go further for what we need. We have tried Don Kyatt, Wodonga power steering and Adrian Dawes with no luck. As mentioned we are in need of buying a steering ram for a 1972 Bedford Bus, model YRT-74a , it is a 10 wheel stud vehicle. Thank you for any help you can advise us with.

Linda

Any hydraulic place can rebuild the ram surprisingly cheaply. You should have an Enzed or similar place near you.

Thank you, we did have it rebuilt or looked at 12 mths ago by Enzed in Ballarat who sent it to there specialist Melbourne way, unfortunately it is now a full leak not just a weep, back then my roadworthy guy sent it to them but as they had problems with it looks like we were never charged for the ram work, but we did get a roadworthy, so we can not just return it to them, which is why we are looking for another one as no one want to touch one that has been looked at before.

Enzed or Pirtek should be able to rebuild it back to original specs. If the bore of the ram is damaged it can be metal sprayed and the ram can be re chromed after that there is not much left.

Used to be business in Sydney call Mr Motor Parts who looked after all the Bedford motor homes around the country, Frankly I wouldn't go to a generic hydraulic place as while a steering ram might use hydraulic oil it is a different business. There is a steering specialist advertises with this club.

It's only a hydraulic ram, any workshop doing this type of work could replicate the ram you have.
