Hi,
I recently bought this old Dodge ute and would like to know more about it, ie when it was built. I am also looking for some spare parts (at a minimum a carburettor, spare rim, hubcaps, door handles) or a wreck for spares. I also need rubbers for the glass and door seals. Any clues on new suppliers?
Any help appreciated. Advice from knowledgeable Dodge blokes gratefully received.
Name plate says:
Dodge Trucks, mfg by Chrysler Corporation of Canada Limited. Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Serial No. 90084884
Model DE1-08
Max Gross vehicle weight 4850 lbs.
Thanks,
Andrew.

OK so this is now my second post as most of the photos didn't turn out.
The last photo shows the half fallen down shed that the old girl was extracted from on the weekend.
I am assuming that the whole unit was built in Canada and sent to Australia, to be distributed by CDD Distributors, Keswick. Is this correct, or is it an Australian body?
Thanks chaps.

Wow what a gem and by the looks lucky you got it when you did going by the looks of that shed. I am not sure about the fargo's but i was under the impression that the body's were made in Adelaide by T.J Richards body builders under licence and all of the mechanicals came from U.S.A / Canadabut someone here will know. Look up Pilothouse Dodge on Google. welcome to the forum and all the best with it Clarky

Great looking truck Andrew. I love that hinged flap chopped into the driver's side rear panel!
Your truck is a 1949 half-ton model built in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Should have a 218cui motor with a prefix T143.
Where are you located?

Wow - great looking unit!
From 1948 until early 53 Chrysler Australia imported their Pilot-house truck line from Canada in a knock down form and assembled them here.
They were sold under the Dodge and Fargo name. The Fargo name seems to be the most predominate
What is the serial no. I can't quite make it out? :-[
Plenty of mechanical spares available Stateside (US).
Have a chat with Desotodav

Hi fellas,
Thanks for the replies. I have updated my profile to show my location - near Wangaratta in sunny NE Victoria.
The serial number is hard to read off the plate on the firewall but I wrote it in my first post.
Desotodav, how do you know it was built in 1949? Is it from the serial number? What are the 2 number only tags on the firewall as well?
For some reason the carby has been taken off, which is the only thing from stopping the ute running. I do intend to keep it as is body wise, but it will need a tidy up mechanically. So what model of carby am I looking for? Does anyone have one in stock?
I don't need spare rim after all - I took a better look underneath and there is the spare wheel! Still trying to get rid of the rat smell from the cabin - they have made a mess of all the stuffing in the seats.
Has anyone got one the same that I can get advice from?
Thanks,
AG.

I sent you an email AG.
Details for your truck were from the registry.
Carter B&B carby should not be hard to find.
Rat smell is hard to get rid of - finding that with rebuilding my 53 coupe truck at present!
Service and parts manuals available on Ebay but don't pay too much for them!
I picked up my 9th truck a few weeks ago - 1 is just not enough!
I'm a bit time poor at present mate as too much going on at work, so drop me an email with questions etc and I'll get back to you.

Andrew, well done. What a great find. By the looks of that shed, you saved it just in time.
Think you can have the Dodge ready to bring to Clarendon Classic Machinery Rally Sept 20/21?
Dodge Bros being 100yrs old is one of our themes this year, even though we are a very accepting bunch and everything is welcome.
