Commer with Jap 2 stroke

Been trying to get this for a couple of years.

The owner of the truck lived elsewhere & the owner of the property that the truck was on said that the truck owner would never sell it. when I finally got the phone number he sold it. Cheep to. Some times you just have to ask.

The previous owner had replaced the worn out V8 Crummins with a UD5.

Well he sat the engine in the chassis. He said that he started the engine. That was a while ago. A long while ago. About 35 years ago.

Anyone have info on the UD5 2 stroke?

Cro, many years ago we had a similar comer with a UD3 in It.
We also had (& needed) a Workshop Manual..
I saw the Bloke who ended up with the truck the other day, I'll chase him Up & see what happened to the Book..

PS: do a search on here for UD 2 stroke I'm pretty sure there's few threads on here about them..

seed,i found a post from 2013 where there was talk but to no avail it seemed.

I have a manual for the UD3 and UD4 but not the UD5 ..... Not sure if it would be of any use

Hi Cro, cool truck and amazing how many old trucks were repowered with a UD 2 stroke. I looked at one identical years ago that used to run around Sydney with a spread trailer. When the owner passed on his daughter took it then her ex husband claimed it. He cut the trailer up > then must have gold plated what was left which would explain the price he asked.

If your truck is an original Commer it would have had a TS3 in it, only the Dodge badged trucks were V8 Cummins powered. I have a NOS set of the plastic park light housings here, you can have them for what I paid if you need them, I don't own one anymore. Cheers, great find

If you look real close there is a V8 badge on the door. May be a V8 petrol to start with, could have been fitted with a V8 cummins, dose look like it has had a cab lift also..
