Were they black inside when new, I honestly have no idea
Its coming along great, I was amazed just how much work is involved in restoration work, some things seem to take for ever and go on and on and are only tiny little details but seem to take for ever
Keep at it, youll get there soon enough

Yes, they were black. I think it was gel coat. I went with gloss with just a small amount of matting agent so somewhere between gloss and satin.
The dash had a radio, power outlet and about 10 unused holes. I fibreglassed the larger holes and smoothed them and filled the smaller ones. Where they were in the top of the dash that has a grain, I used an engraving tool to 'grain' the repairs so they don't stand out.
Yes, some jobs can be slow. I have been working on the headlights and each one is made up of 31 parts if you count the screws, nuts and bolts and there are 4 of them. I won't be surprised if I spend at least 2 days just restoring them.

You may spend two days on the lights but you will be happy with them and know they are done to your standards.
Of course most other people would never know or notice but you will and that's what counts.

Got the white on (roof and lower section), hopefully get a chance to mask it off and do the green sometime next week.

Great work Oilman! That looks very familiar. The masking up on the Mk3 full cab just for the second colour/stripes, took me 12 hours! But it is all worth it in the end. You are doing a great job, i am following with much interest.

Well today I finally had a chance to paint the green. It looks good (no runs), so hopefully the tape comes off cleanly.

Not trying to be a smart A, but just remember to pull the tape backwards upon itself. But I guess you already knew that.
