OilMan
me stihl thinx u're do n a good job

bettr than factory

the foot brake valve jist looks like the common garden variety Bendix E6

www.ebay.com.au/p/1555923271?iid=1317294...1EAYYAiABEgKFkPD_BwE

We have noticed with xperienced drivers th@ usein the brake pedal lightly as in fann n the brakes the valve tends to stik or gum up so everynow n then we stand on the brakes to free the pedal up (while stationary of course)

I'm thinking either the E6 or maybe an E3 valve swishy...maybe?

Try Ratcliff transport spares at Silverwater, I have not dealt with them for a while but if Derick is still there he will sort the brake valve out for you

Definitely not an E6 as they are dual circuit and mine is single. I think an E3 would work OK even though it looks different to mine. Hoping to be able to keep the original though.

I had trouble with the treadle valve in my '75 Volvo F86 and was advised by very experienced mech that no one repairs air valves these days as new ones are so cheap, and as it turned out I could use an E6, just had to re-use the spacer between pedal and valve body. Had more recent trouble through lack of use. Same mech gave a way a trade secret which is to put a dose of CRC or similar penetrating oil down the compressor intake - works a treat!
Yours is the single circuit E3. Same mech said E6 and E3 often give trouble to extent that in small Jappers they often replace them every 2nd rego.
Absolutely fantastic resto, love it.

I have found out that is is actually called an E1 and Australian Brake Controls (recommended by MYFLINT69) have 1 minor kit left in stock (for an exorbitant price!).

Yes, sadly this is the price we must pay

I dont make a good restoration doer as I just do what to me is practical, cant please em all

A fella on here some years ago known as Bugly was doing up a Benz fuel tanker, he got genuine benz filters and all
Ended up been the most original Benz ever and was a credit to him

Stick at it, I know a new plastic roof lining for my Mack was 1500 bucks
I still think about getting one as there will be only a very limited number left

Had the radiator and front springs sandblasted and very happy with the job. Just blowing the sand off before I prime and notice a small black dot on the top tank, and yes, you guessed right it is a pin hole. I wasn't planning on pulling the radiator apart as I knew that would open a whole new can of worms just when I could see the finish line in sight. Guess I have no choice now.

I also purchased a new air regulator and hose for the gearbox (slightly leaking). I don't understand why, but Eaton would only sell 2 hoses (gearbox only uses 1) so if anyone is looking for an air hose to fit a 910 I have a spare. Also ended up buying an new E3 foot valve (for much less than the minor kit for the E1) so that should ensure no leaks there.
