This will be a funny question as some might think

Door and window winders

Your old 1 tonner handles probably had a spring wire clip that worked like a circlip over the winder shaft, and had to be pushed off with a U shaped tool, to remove the handles. Not 100% sure about your Commer, but it might have a small pin that keeps the handle on the shaft. Push the escutcheon toward the door lining and look in the gap for a pin through the handle and shaft. Push or tap the pin out with a thin punch.

Gordy, you are doing fine, I still dont know how to get my rear drums off, and I hope I dont need to know any time soon. There are a heap of bloke here who are glad to share the things they have learnt so you can know some of what they know. I wonder if you should be giving a bit of throttle to the truck and seeing if you can get some movement in the brakes.... I am thinking rust will be your problem and you wont be able to put as much pressure on the rust by hand as you can apply through the engine.... once you can spin the wheels up you will have much better chance of getting the drums off.

Just rock it back and forward on the clutch for a bit....

good luck and keep asking...

The guy I bought it off warned me that one of the wheels was binding
He drove it up n down his back yard when he moved it
When we had it delivered it rolled of the truck with a bit of help and it ended up half in garage half hangin out
When we went to push it in took four of us and we where bugged afterward
its the only wheel thats leaked heaps of brake fluid over the years which I'd say hasn't helped.
I'll be doing all the brake system up from end to end
Thanks for your suggestion

Thanks for help

Looks like it might be like an Austin hub, with just one double row bearing.Anyhoo,if you cant back off the brake shoes,it will be hard to pull off, especially if there is a wear lip in the drum .No use just applying brute force as the brake shoes cock sideways and jam harder.Needs to rotate as it comes off.

Well done, you might have read the recent thread here about leaking diff seals.
I am the proud owner of a mighty Perkins powered ACCO butter box.... (apparently Power & Perkins are not supposed to go in the same sentence)..... But it was affordable, repair/maintainable and despite looking like a refugee from a scrap yard, it is registered and driveable. (if I can start it)....

You are doing well.
