I think the Dodge has too many noughts in the price..............there is/was a real good one just down the road,ex navy I think, spotless ,low mile, new canvas canopy......just like new....anyway ,its still there ,the best offer they had was $500 ,and the old man wouldnt sell it for that......says it can rot ,for all he cares.

The dodge is certainly nice. Not much of a project though. I hope to get out of it for 8-12k. I want a clean body preferably then it will just receive a clear coat. I like that tattered look. Catching up with some people tomorrow that know where a few are so will gather contact details and go for a look. Any thoughts on what the F250 would be worth? Basically no rust and relatively straight, Cleaveland 300 donk.

I often wonder what a lot of these old V8 trucks running on straight petrol would cost to use now as a transporter though. LPG doesn't seem to be much cheaper anymore.
Guess back when they were earning a living fuel would have been cheaper and it would have been a business related expense.
Maybe why we see so many For Sale now.

AS I remember the only truck V8 that was economical was the Dodge 318 with the elb and the Carter super economy carb...........and ,agin recollection, but the Ford aussie V8s wernt suited to trucks cause of the uncooled area of exhaust casting on the head, that would rust/burn away with truck exhaust heat........In fact ,if you are looking at a truck V8 ,you cant go past the Dodges ......Tocco steel crank, trimetal bearings,HD rods, valve seat insert heads ,etc etc............same with IH V8s ......same spec with sodium cooled exhausts ,and rotators......but they are pretty thirsty ,even on gas...............car V8s with cast cranks and rods and soft valves are OK for polishing the alloy rocker covers ,and posing, but not much else.

Think 1970's Repco supplied a kit for the Dodge V8's for gas.
High compression pistons, durable valve seats and cooled valves.
Claimed no power loss compared with petrol. At the time gas was
8 cents a GALLON, so worth the expense. Good hunting, Paul.
