Busy. busy, busy, on everything else around me but the truck.

Birthdays, visitors, Men's Shed, garden, heritage Centre, shopping, etc.  It seems never ending, except for the money in my pocket!

MR334 sorted, and with local Dixon of Dock Green to check engine and chassis numbers, only to discover they have now put a price on verifying these. This would be a one minute job, hands free and possible without bending on B for . . . remembering they justify their pricing allowing for the paperwork and time involved, what would you consider a reasonable price for this difficult task?   (I'll let you know later.)

Ignoring the above for a while, a few weeks back our youngest daughter and her partner have decided to make things official   . . .

. . .  AND if that wasn't enough, just to keep us on our toes, he has just been told he has cancer that will require a hasty trip into hospital to have a large portion of bowel removed!

Needless to say a worrying time for all, and for my wife and I the next two weeks will be a definite shambles around our neck of the woods!

If you think I've been on a go-slow over the last few weeks it will probably become even more so, for at least another week, or more! Hopefully sorting itself out before heading off to the S.A. Branch Kingston S.E. Run, late March. (Albeit NOT in the Bedford.)

Glad to hear you have the MR334 sorted, it will save you a LOT of hassle in the long run, rather than messing with expensive and restrictive 3 day permits.  Just make sure you get the "+ extension" added at Service SA when you apply/pay for the rego.  It doesn't cost any extra, but allows you to be out on a public road within a certain distance of your driveway, without having to fill in your log book, rather than "waste" one of your 90 days of use.
So if you need to turn B-for around, you can go out on to the road, perform a 3 point turn, and re-enter your driveway.  Similarly for anyone with a driveway along either side of their house/yard, you can exit one driveway, and enter the other, via a public road, without the need to fill in your log book.

I think a Police performed ID inspection has been around $63.00 for a fair while, but perhaps likely more now..................???

I am very sorry to hear of the poor health diagnosis within your family.  Just remember, old trucks can wait to be fixed.  Support your family as needed, but do also try and score some shed time for yourself, to de-stress as you feel the need.

Brett.

Thanks Brett,
Yes, I was aware of the in-out provision. The last time I needed a plate check was about nine or ten years ago; an interstate purchase back to S.A. and into Pirie for police check, no cost and straight down Services S.A. for the registration and plates.

Currently police check is now $71! Farcical, absurd, preposterous, somewhat ridiculous and, as I commented to Services S.A. rep when querying the figure, ludicrous. Considering I will be tied up for at least a week and a half with daughter (Aberfoyle Park) I will probably get the check done but leave the rego office until free again.

I continue to struggle on and am thankful that it is not me going into hospital next week. Sentiments appreciated, thanks.

In my travels today I went to Repco in Port Pirie to buy some spark plugs for B for, as by chance I had discovered that (in a clearance of old stock) they were selling-off the required size Champion plugs for 50 cents each!

Unfortunately when they checked if they had any available the result was one solitary plug left in Victoria! Obviously some entrepeneurs had bought whatever they could and no doubt will sell them later at an inflated price . . . you win some, you lose some, me . . . I always lose!

Bottom line, approximately $60 later (instead of $3) I have some coming now and grateful they weren't dearer.

PS  If any of you bought some 50 cent plugs lately I wouldn't mind six more for my other truck.

Oliver1950  Thanks, not desperate by any means as the D Type Bedford is unlikely to be a concern in the grand scheme of my foreseeable future.

However, stranger things have happened and purely for the record: 14mm, flat bottomed (not tapered) short reach (about 9mm thread).

cobbadog  My luck is directly proportional to the lack of expenditure applied!

AC46 from my engine and J11Y for the 50 cent ones I missed out on. Just had a phone call that the six I bought yesterday have arrived in Port Pirie from wherever Repco sourced them.

There were a few other suggestions given by Googlepedia et al  but some were long reach! I prefer my pistons without holes in them . . .

Don't stress over them unnecessarily, thanks again.
