When I first bought the truck over 10 years ago the original front shock absorbers didn't work at all. The truck drove nicely but on wavey bumps would bounce a little too much. Never had a problem with lower back problems tho.
I decided to buy new shocks and got OE identical part number replacement shocks that did the job but stiffenned up the ride to the point it would irritate my back and the front of the truck would pigroot a bit.
Took the OE shocks out and put in some Adjustable Gabriel shocks and put them on the softest setting. Help somewhat but still too hard and some pigrooting.
So am trying to find shocks that are really low compression and rebound rates but finding it hard. Am considering in modifying the shocks I have by possibly replacing with lighter weight oil.
If I have like 5 to 7 ton in the tip tray the ride smooths out really well with the new shocks.
Any advice on improving the ride of the Acco 1850d would be appreciated

What are the front springs like? The springs on my Acco's (granted, mine are all older than yours), have gone flat and the shackles are hanging back to the point they really don't have anywhere left to go. All i can suggest is to have a look at the shackle angle, and have the front springs reset if necessary. You might find the ride with the correct shocks is ok after that.

Here is a hint. Don't drop the shockie on your fancy work boot. It'll hurt.

Lorry used to ride like a buck board wagon until one year during his annual medical exam he was refused due to the flat front springs. Mind you the ride was so bad that we looked at buying new seats to try and soften the ride. So a new set came from Lovells in Sydney, fitted them and now he rides like a car. Now no new seats required as the shackles now only angle back a small amount instead of almost hitting the mount they swing off.
However I now would like to fit a pair of later model bucket seats from another
Hino and get rid of the silly bench seat on the passenger side and have easy access behind both seats. May even fit the later consul in the middle too.
