MSO ,the Girling brakes on the rear axle are quite different to most others ,and be sure you understand how they work ,and be able to identify problems when they are assembled or adjusted wrongly.

Heya all thanks for the messages and pictures. I am wondering if I can't get a new coil., will any 12 volt coil be ok? It also has an oil bath air filter, that's the strangest thing I've seen so far. Also on the starter motor will any coil do ? As long as its 12 volts

Some here advise against using the GT40 coils with old dizzys.

Ok JOHN.K! I do understand that a lot just love doing the original. But I'm in Australia and we love just getting it going. Also I think parts are going to be a problem. Have a lot of feelers out , so who knows

You will need to buy a coil that does not require a ballast resistor. So look for a coil that came from an early Ford, Holden anything. I bought a Bosch coil for our David Brown and then painted it black as per original, works perfectly well.

hi JOHN.K I watched 2 YouTube girling brake shows this morning. Both very informative. Looks a tad harder than the commodore. But slowly does it. Just trying to work out were to get a 3 and a half inch socket
