I have sorted the interior light out. This one must have been a bit different to the ones you guys have seen. This was earthed just behind the light on a tab above the rear glass. It is switched by twisting the headlight switch as you suggested but switching the positive.
Although there was 12v at the fitting it must have been a poor connection within the switch. I supplied a separate earth direct from the battery then did the same for the positive, that’s when it worked. I filed the switch contacts and played with all the wiring but that didn’t fix it. As there was a hole in the dash which I wanted plugged I just added a toggle switch for the light, it’s working mint as now. :)

By the end of tomorrow all of the electrical work will be complete, that’s everything working and all cables secured. Will be glad to have that done.

On another note I’m looking into personalized plates. As F250’s are so damn popular all the combo’s I really want are gone. So it’s come down to OLE250 what’s your thoughts on that. I always refer to it as the old 250 but OLD250 is taken. Happy to hear the hardest of criticism and any suggestions you may have.

Cheers

If you like OLE-250, then stick your name down, I reckon!

Considering it's an old 300 engine, perhaps OLD300 might work also?

Thanks lads.

Ole is substituted for old I’ve noticed when reading stuff so that was the next best.

PDU, OLD300 is also not available.

Electrical work is all but tidied up, just the horn when I sort out the steering wheel and number plate light to be installed. Cables under the dash and bonnet are all secure and all not required equipment is removed.

The only other thing I did today was clean out the interior. Gave it all a wash with a scourer and vacuumed it out. I’m not after perfect so it was just a quick scrub.

That’s all I’ll get done for a couple weeks. Time to order a few things so they are ready to go when I am.

Thanks for following along and helping out.

As one chapter almost ends you start on the next. Exterior is all but done and will be by the end of this coming weekend. Just needing to secure the tray down properly and do the number plate light.

But the next chapter……that knock knock knock from the motor stepped it up a level today I think. Finally got the timing light on it, was nice to see my ear is also timed correctly as it didn’t need adjusting. When I was giving it some short stabs of throttle it was almost like a screaming noise from the frontish of the bottom end where the knock seems apparent. Is that the noise an engine could make if a bearing spins? Slow build up of RPM didn’t seem to do it. Do you have any suggestions of what else it could be? Going to explore it more tomorrow. Oh the joys.

Mammoth, funny you say that. I was thinking after posting my comment that I should have checked the fan belt, was getting dark so I just packed up and went inside strait after hearing it. The last time I ran it was the longest since this new fan belt went on. A bit of heat might have made it give a little. I’m so conscious of that damn knock, I just want to blame it for what I can. I’ll get straight into it in the morning. Cheers mate.

Check the fanbelt first.
I mechanic told me ages ago "Always check the easiest things first"

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
