Cheers guys for all the nice comments.
Mrs HD still has a long road ahead, but getting there thanks to the excellent level of care at the PA Hospital in Brisbane.
Better get out soon though, I’m out of socks and the dishes are piled up to the ceiling!
Morris - I thought they had welting, but hard to tell from the pictures I’ve looked at. Landcruiser is a good option, hadn’t considered that.
PaulFH - I’ll run it up and try to really understand where the problems are. Wasn’t running well , comp test showed cylinders 2 & 4 were down and a fair amount of smoke. Later noticed the choke was stuck on.
Mrsmackpaul - saw a good deal on a 250 Ford with automatic on FaceCloth, and that’s what got me thinking. Unfamiliar with the Ford Barra engine, but will do some University of Google research.
Cobbadog- thanks mate, actually ended up cutting heaps of rust out! You know what it’s like, cut a bit, cut some more, next thing, you’re replacing the entire section. Even though the Bedford is never going to be a concourse restoration, I still like to keep the gaps tidy.
One issue I can see with any engine swap, is the the Bedford engine is only supported at the front and at the gearbox. Not the ‘traditional’ either side of the engine. Not a major problem, will just need some mounts fabricating.

Come on Colin, what made you think you cold put up 3 pictures of your beast and not have to give us the full story? It's a "Need to Know" basis and I need to know.
Steve.
Sorry Wee-allis, wasn’t ignoring you.
Not really HCVC friendly, but car was built as a tribute to the 60’s Show Cars.
Carved body from plaster & covered in fibreglass.
Did everything except the chrome, upholstery & blowing the bubble- a roof skylight.
On a VW Beetle floor pan.
Mad as a box of frogs, but fun as hell to drive!!

Just to clarify, there will be no bubble tops, lowrider hydraulics/air bags or custom changes on this Bedford!
Although, I will be making a fiberglass shell for the back.
