Clark forklifts and Clarktor towmotors also had red motors in them in the 60s and 70s.

Many moons ago when in earth moving the resident fitter drove an old Bedford J series of some sort but with a huge  closed in body and roller door on the back. We called it the Black Mariya similar to look at as an ols prison van. It was overdue for an engine rebuild. The boss wanted to put a Holden 6 in it but the fitter said no you wont. He claimed that the original engine developed more torque and was perfectly suited for the job. This was in the mid 1970's and I think the 202 was not released only had the 186. The fitter won the arguement the boss went back inside and licked his wounds

The 202 was in the HQ from (maybe) 1972?) ....We got new HQs in the govt and they were terrible ,,,,all manuals and fierce clutches that would kangaroo and stall........and the oval steering wheel  ...i really hated that................then GMH did something to the blue motors so they all blew head gaskets ....

I went for the 202 as it was reasonably cheap, easy to repair and parts are readily available.

Slowly putting it all back together.

Carb, modified air cleaner, complete with new paper filter.
