Another Bedford

Thanks PDU, I’m glad people can open it.
Need to learn how to post it properly.

Going for another start up this weekend.
Turns over and coughs, but doesn’t fire.
Will check the timing again.

Yeah, don’t want the exhaust pipe sticking out, looks like too much hassle.
I’ve bodged up the bits that were on there and coupled them to the manifold, but will run a full system eventually.

Quiet afternoon for me, ending up by working my way from beginning to end of your blog . . .

The older Bedfords seem to have a common problem with fuel starvation at start up, the solution being to fit an electric fuel pump.

That’s funny, because I went front to back on your blog the other day.
You’ve come a long way and nearly there now.

Yeah, had that problem with my 58 Ford Skyliner,constant vapour lock on startup.

Have fitted a small 12v pump near the Bedfords tank, on a separate switch, just for startups.

Same here, ignition on, switch pump on, dab accelerator twice, choke out, start, push choke back in, no problem . . . and then switch pump back off.  

Sounds like a good anti theft device.

Definitely feel I'm starting to get somewhere now.

Excuse my dust.

Going to fire the engine up tomorrow.
