Cheers Jon_d & Paul,
I was told the oil pump was packed & primed, but until I pull the pump, I'm unable to comment/
Hopefully, all is good and just needs repacking.
Have picked up a need dizzy cap, coil, points & rotor arm, had meant to do this prior to installing the engine, but just didn't get round to it.
Also got out my 810CCA battery, given it's a new tight engine, wondered if it wasn't turning over quick enough to pump up the lifters.
But it idled, so should have pumped the oil.

In a previous life (I refer to pre children) we would get old distributors and pull all the excess parts off to make a shaft we could insert in the engine to turn the oil pump over without turning anything else, we would power it with an electric drill (pre cordless) and use this to pump oil through the engine, you would do it with the rocker cover off to see when oil got to the top. Doesn’t work with all engines though.

Thanks Grumpy,
I have seen that done, but never actually done it myself.
Makes perfect sense.

Never had this with a Holden 6 (OK, once - someone had removed the pickup and then replace ALL of the sump bolts!), but had a tired 253 one time which wouldn't pump oil. I filled the filter, I think and maybe poured a bit in the pump (I forget), but it did the trick and worked fine afterwards.

The 253 did like getting primed by doing both pump n filter. The filter was the messy part since it laid down on its side

Do you have access to a external oil supply like a tractor
If so would it be possible to hook a hose up to were the oil pressure gauge sender unit normally is and prime it with the tractor remotes

IT’S ALIVE!!
Pulled the pump, it was lubed, but had never been pre-packed.
Grease/oil pack, installed the new ignition parts, then turned it over for a few minutes with the plugs out.
Had to set the timing by hand, as I couldn’t find my timing light.
But she run good!
Happy chappy, although a little disappointed the oil pump hadn’t but installed what assumed was correctly.
But no damage, (trust me I went over the pump with a microscope) and it’s running now.
Will try (again) tomorrow to post a video.

Here's a video, think I need to upgrade my computer skills.
Although, I was able to post it straight to the HCVC Facecloth page, without issues.
So, I'm not that useless.
EDIT
Sorry, but the video just doesn't want to upload
