Kenworth 403711 was created by Linz1607
Hi fellas, thought i should put some pics up of the latest project, Chassi number 403711, was running out of Newcastle for many years, last trip was in 1989 to Tasmanian, then was parked up under some trees, so the rear end of the chassis / air cleaners etc have suffered badly. putting it in the shed next month once the T2700 is on the road. Looking for any details on the history of this one. It originally had an 8V92 that let go, and engine was replaced with an american import 8V92T, 15 sp RR, not sure of the diffs yet, waiting on a build sheet from KW to see what it come out the factory as. Dont know why but one picture always come thru on its side?

Also i noted that all the cross members are alloy, under the dark blue paint there is light blue paint also a bright orange paint, is the orange paint a primer or undercoat for the top coat? She has had a few coats of paint in its life from what i can see, the spiders are dark blue, light blue , white and red..the chassis is 3 shades of blue???

Gday Linz,
I just sold a KW that was eerily similar to yours- Same spec with 892, the air cleaners like that, with a single exhaust, and no Air foil-
A bit unusual, or so I found out whilst trying to google search pics of Kenworths. I coudn't find any that looked the same.
ANYWAY as it turns out, mine was your younger brother- next number along the line, chassis number 403712....
It will be interesting to see who and what they were made for, if anyone can find out. Mine also had red, blue, TNT orange, and so forth. But the original colors from the plate look the same as yours, blue and white.
So there you go, small world for these old girls eh?
By the way mine is now en route to Noo Zealund. They like them over there too....
Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich
Thanks for the info, ill let you know via this post what i find out. One thing i did find was that compared to the other KW in the yard, this ones wheel base is 450mm shorter, hard to tell from your pictures if the wheel base was the long one or short one, i didn't write down the actual wheel base so i cant tell you now.

No, was a Dora Creek. I'll check with the old owner in case he was at Medowie.

I wonderf if the orange paint is on the alloy parts and is an etch primer.

It does look a bit like yours too oliver1950
