My outlook is that it is your project so make it as you want it. Same as do we give them a full paint job to a level that was never achieved o a quick wash and a coat of linseed oil and turpentine.
Something to consider is if you do change it, make a bloody good job of it so it is appealing to the next owner. If it is way over the top may have a problem long term with resale.

Thats some fairly extensive mods done to those guards
I never thought we would see the day a Bedford was hotted up
Looks pretty smart as well
I guess if you think it is within your capabilities then why not
I think it will be fine if a good job is done
Paul

If I was doing this mod I'd be looking for a pair of guards that had the profile and radius I wanted and cut the bits you want off and weld away.
The hardest part of these mods is getting any shape into the lip of the guard.

My 20 cents worth, it's easier to weld a gap than a butt joint or over lapping joint
Use .6 mig wire and just spot spot spot
Take your time and dont it to hot

Using donor arches is a great idea and will save a lot of time and effort.

That sure does away with the troublesome Inter bonnet hinges.

MrsM, If you use a Flange tool to run an edge the lap joint is excellent and does not distort as a normal over lap does.
