Couple of things. I have a Heavy Duty 245 in my AT4 and I don't have a manual for the blacktop. Does anyone know for sure if the ignition timing is the same as the passenger 245, 5 deg btdc? It seems happy at that.
Also the tac tac tac sound of a leaking exhaust manifold is getting louder. I figure if i have to fix it I may as well put a hooligan extractor manifold on to get value from the gaskets and lose another 20 odd years of maturity. Anyone around Adelaide got some gathering dust?

Advancing the ignition might quieten down the leak exhaust a whisker too.

Thanks Guys, timing set perzackly 7.5 degrees. Run a hell of a lot better after I remembered to connect #1 plug lead next day. On a roll so decided to fit some mudflaps.
I started with this, a freebie from Gumtree.

Some jiggery/pokery and I ended up with this.

Wacked em on, would have been easier if I took the wheels off but I was too stubborn.

My apologies to North East but I did buy a lot of Isuzu's in the dark past.

That would also have stopped the ticking!

No Mate, my old timing light not one of those fancy unduction clips. Like to wear out the old stuff first.

Dodgedude You are lucky finding the correct advance. Old Mate just started the Silver Diamond in his 1952 Inter L110 (assembled in Aus. but before they put "A" in front of the number) after a rebuild and the only timing figure he can find in the several manuals he has, say 13 to 15 degrees at 3000 revs. He set it to 10 degrees at the lowest idle speed it will sustain without the vacuum advance and it sounds good at that. When he gets the tailshaft in and a few more bits on, a road test will let him try to check it at 3000rpm.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
