Hi Morris. Ultrasonics use sound waves in water with a detergent suitable for the job at hand. If I stick my hand in my tank when running it is like getting hold of a HT lead at full revs, it bites. Might be why the warnin g sign says do not put hands in tank when running, plus it kills skin cells.
Most engine reconditioners use ultrasonic tubs for cleanin g now and possibly with caustic soda in the water along with some heat. I cant see it removing rust but electrolysis certainly does and it is an easy process to do at home using your battery charger, a tank big enough to put your part in, an anode and an electrode, water and washing soda. Strips off paint and rust mostly over night if not a couple of days. I have also used water and molases with the electrolysis process but it stinks worse than a brewery cart horses f@rts.

You've got to be a bit careful of Hydrogen embrittlement with electrolysis. My ultrasonic can hold water at boiling over temp and this seems to be pretty good at removing everything, rust included. If im doing a lot of small parts I put the parts in jars of kero then put the jars in the tank, saves dirtying the fluid in the tank.

Saw that trick and also had it suggested to me when doing the MacDonald injector by putting parts in a jar of kero or even petrol and let that catch the dirt. I have not tried my tank at much over mid 30'c because of the application but hotter can do more of a job for mechanical parts. What detergent are you using in your tank for cleaning parts?

Well I ordered one at $44 too good to be true?

Slightly raised eyebrows at the the expected delivery date 1-8 October. Bloody fantastic courier company who can deliver it 3 days before I even put in the order.

Will report.

Lang Did they say October in which year?

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
