Laser derusting machine

Zuffen, China uses a plug very similar to ours but not the same. I have purchased a MIG welder and a small plasma cutter from online and of course they are posted from China as expected. They both arrived with 15amp plugs on them but both had to be replaced as the spacing was incorrect to fit a standard Aussie 15amp power point.
The thing that upset me was the design of the plug and how the wires were connected was quite good but as soon as I replaced them I tossed the O/S plugs away so I didn't get caught out later when my memory gets worse than it already is.

Maybe it was the 15 amp caravan type plug which will not go into a standard 10 amp socket and vice-versa - unless you file down the earth pin?

Some chinese use the I type 240V plug the same as australia but not all. they also use 2 other pin configurations.
US power is 60Hz unlike the 50Hz in Australia and also unlike Australia the 220V wiring they have is 220 2 phase meaning 2 live conductors at 110 each unlike our single phase 240 with a single live conductor, some stuff will run on both both other stuff will instantly blow the smoke seals and can also do the flame seals at the same time.

Interesting. I've spent a lot of time in China but never come across other than our type plugs.

I have also been all over China and my Australian plugs worked everywhere.

The 15amp Chinese plugs that came with the welder and plasma cutter had a small difference and it was the spacing between the 2 angled pins. They were about 2mm all up further apart. I did try squeezing the pins closer but the plug would not go all the way into the power point. Thought this was too dangerous so off they went to landfill.

Dunno that the forum is the right spot to be giving electrical advice on these matters

The Chinese 16amp plug is a different dimension to their 10amp plug. It doesn't fit the Australian 15amp sockets
