Looking at getting the chassis of this thing sand blasted in the near future. Is there any harm getting the springs blasted

Hardtopman, I'd be pulling the springs out and having them reset by a spring maker. That way, they will be back to new height, and you won't need to sandblast them, either.
Truck springs cop a hiding and sag substantially over the decades. You don't realise how much they've sagged until you see them reset. The additional benefit, is a better ride as well.

I was thinking of getting them reset later when i do the bushes/shackles. Just a rolling chassis is easya to move around to blasters and thinking if they cop a hit with grit will it do them any harm while the chassis gets done.

If your sandblaster uses garnet as a blasting medium, there shouldn't be any problem. A sandblast bloke near my shop uses steel shot, and its pretty savage, it fairly rips the metal off.
He does a lot of heavy industrial blasting, so that's why he uses shot instead of garnet. It's also better for him, because it doesn't produce the dust that garnet does.
The only problem I see is that garnet and the dust will pack in between the leaves and create a future corrosion and possible wear problem.
Our garnet supplies comes from Horrocks Beach, North of Geraldton .. and despite being washed and screened, I reckon the stuff still has some salt in it.
As a result, I'm fussy about the total removal of any residual garnet, when blasting has been done using garnet.

Not much happening with the old girl, mainly just a nusince in the drive way that i have to move out of the way. She will be moving residence in the next few weeks down to our new place. Have picked up some poly block huggers for it and have got a full set of shackle pins and bushes on there way after some hunting around. Just gotta hunt down tie rod and drag link ends and i have the lot steering/suspension wise.

excellent job Hardtopman, I'm in Guildford doing an At4-129 up at the moment, nice to see some W.A content.
Question Onetrack, where would you recomend to get a set of 229 springs reset?
cheers Scott

ct7scott - Try Jenkins Springs in Bassendean, or Westralia Springs in Welshpool. Jenkins used to do all my spring resetting, but in recent years, nearly all the spring repairers have gone out of business, or reduced their business size and operations, to a fraction of what they used to be.
Jenkins used to have a large furnace setup and even manufacture springs, but I know they closed a sizeable portion of their business down quite a few years ago.

Jezz its been 5 years or so
The old truck has been on the back burner for a good while but been collecting bits and pieces when i can.
Got hold of another truck, the blue one and i was going to use cab and tray, tray is the same Howard porter, cab had some rust in the floor and so on.
I then got hold of another truck (red one)that has a really good cab that has bugger all rust. A few dents here and there but the roof has copped it big time and very knocked about. This truck had a fertilizer spreader on the back and the chassis is very rusty. Also has a good running 313 that old farmer reckons was rebuilt back in the 90's and recored radiator. Someone has done some work to it at some point in a effort to look after it. Had after market oil and temp gauges fitted and also electronic ignition
This week i have dragged Dads truck from behind the shed and removed the rusty cab and pulled out the engine/trans, the chassis on Dads truck is rust free and straight other than above the diff were the bump stops have been contacting from overloading no doubt and the sparer wheel carrier at back a bit bent. Going to strip it of all the brake lines/hand brake rods, give it a good clean and get it blasted and a coat of paint.
Red parts truck i have removed the cab and a few other bits
