1980 UD help was created by PhilD
Hi all,
Now don't laugh please !
I'm trying to get my 1980 UD ready for Dubbo but can't seem to find ANY information about them anywhere.
Not that I actually Need any at present because she seems to go well and just needs some cab rust and paint work but there's sure to be something come up so it would be good to meet up with anyone with experience of them.
It's a CK40 with 10.3 litre 6cyl and 10speed RR plus dual range diff and lasy.

Not laughing here. It's easy to be critical of the Jap trucks but they have made a big impact on the transport industry and are a part of trucking history. As they have never been flavour of the month for preservationists they are getting very scarce. I always thought the UD a strong and powerful truck for it's day so definately worth having as a historical. Aparently Xtroll (look up on web) rust conqueror is an excellent product to arrest rust in those can't get at spots as well as every where else. Good luck and see you at Dubbo.

Nothing wrong with owning a CK40 Phill, it's hard finding one that's not rusty though. When they first came out in the early 70's they where a big truck. There is a CW 40 out at one of my cousins places, one of the first of them, still working, and no rust (due it's geopraphical location). Was clearly an ex Western Transport truck as well.

CW is 6 X 4, and CK is 4 X 2 Steve.
