LANG, If you need to rebuild your diff, this is a factory GM slide show.

www.devestechnet.com/home/DifferentialOverhaul

I pulled apart my diff yesterday to discover the diff carrier bearings have collapsed. These Chevs use special bearings in the diff.  only available from vendors like 'Chevs of the 40s '  in the USA.   There is a aftermarket bush for the front  end  of the torque tube available called a ' okie '  bush.  If the torque tube bush has excessive wear , it puts excessive strain on the uni joint and the little puny gearbox .

Hate to tell you this Lang, but while you are busy taking photos, someone is ratting through your good stock.

It is my mate Anthony who came to give me a hand putting on those big floppy guards. Almost impossible by yourself without building a big structure to hold them in place until you have the first bolts in.

One big advantage of everything being so light and floppy is it is easy to push and twist to get any of the 20 bolts in each guard to line up. Once they are in and the grille bolted up the entire front end becomes a single unit as solid as a rock

Just got the ute back from Max Upholstery at Caboolture with the headlining.

It is much better than the photos, looks like rough blanket but actually shiny smooth weave - full show quality. Bit like feeding strawberries to pigs with the GMC but still, very nice job

.
