Well as we all know do a project you need one to do and somewhere to do it (Still learning the picture posting)
Then you need something to put in there (As followers of the forum may remember the road trip story) The concrete blocks are anti - thieft devices.
The next step is to have a plan that you never follow. But goes as follows put on air bags and adjust diff ratio and suspension for better Hwy travelling
Then get the truck going as I wish then pull apart tidy cabin rewire and enjoy it. Anyone wishing to replicate a engine cover for one of these I now have the fibreglass mould for doing the large cover as I have found several various sizes.
I must also say a thank you to Ray Neil Cameron and Bob for their help so far. Will try keep updating with photos as we pull apart and put back together

Swish, Geoff might be looking for the "elusive" White mudflaps.
Geoff nice work mate, on a nice truck as well, all the quality brands in one package, White, Detriot Diesel, the list goes on, where will it end? A true custom truck manufacturer, and was based in Briso as well.

Without sounding too harsh,,,
i hope you were not responsible for all that blue s$it on that front diff! :-[
That is NOT THE GO!
metal to metal flange..
a suitable gasket if available or a small quantity of appropriate sealant...
Not so bad on the diff, plenty of heavy gears to crunch the residue..same treatment on a sump or similar, could end in tears!
Apart from that good job, good luck with the rest
regards

Dunno Chocs, I started my apprenticship in 1980, and that is exactly how we put them together then, and I reckon I'd do the same now. I have never seen a gasket on a Rockwell diff. Used to be plenty of siastic, you never want to pull the centre out for something as trivial as an oil leak.
I agrre though, that silastic etc, is diff and gearbox sealent, not for engines.

Chocs is right. Excess RTV or Silastic is a good way to create a lot of heartache. Seen waaay too many engine rebuilds end in tears, very shortly after installation because of excessive use of the sealer.
One engine reconditioning bloke here in Osborne Park, who shall remain nameless, always employed people who slurped RTV/Silastic around with great abandon.
He got the nickname "Silastic Kid" because of his large number of reconditioned engine failures .. and they were always just out of warranty, too .. :'(
In a diff, chunks of rubberised sealant floating around, are not quite as big a problem, as in a motor.
However, chunks of the stuff floating in the oil, is a top class way of blocking any oilways .. and in many diffs there are oilways that need to be kept clear.
The oil passageway between front and rear pinion bearing comes to mind.
I don't like what I see on the diff either, by way of big gloobs of RTV hanging off the joint.
If it was mine, and someone had repaired it that way, I wouldn't be taking delivery of it, until it had been dismantled, cleaned up and a gasket installed with absolutely minimal amounts of RTV.
Ask OzFarm all about chunks of RTV blocking a piston-cooling oil jet passageway in a 3306. It only cost him about 3 engine teardowns in a row ..

read it again Cam...
"metal to metal flange..
a suitable gasket if available or a small quantity of appropriate sealant..."
i didnt say a diff gasket..i have not seen one on a rockwell either.
It was not the sealant...
It was the obvious amount of excess sealant i was pointing to.
if the surfaces are clean and flat and the bolts torqued correctly..a small amount is all that is required..
Otherwise you get what you see...sealant where it shouldn't be..
I reckon if i was your apprentice and i poured that much excess wire into a weld...you'd kick my ar$e???
Thats my 2 bobs worth...but im not a mechanic,
