Goeffb,

Have look at a Road Boss, they had a leaf sring and a couple of shocks at the rear of the cab (or at least the one I had 20yrs ago did) The cab is the same as yours. So shouldn't be too hard to do!!

Also as melonreo says truckart at Wagga sell a retro kit to do excactly what you want.

"Be who you are and say what you feel...
Because those that matter...
don't mind...
And those that mind....
don't matter." -

Had a bit of time today and thought would remove Bull Bar for scrap value as fridge is low. But found that front cross plate had been used as tow point sort knew this but didn't realize till removed bull bar.

As you see immediately proceeded to try hammer but was unable to find someone to use said hammer :'( So down to super cheap & atuobarn for bar straighten which they don't have :-[ But managed to find one of these in the corner and built to AS1237856 ref45 rated at 15 ton

Then we ended up with this

So now we may be able to fit something like this (it only sitting there with Blue Tack I know it's not straight)

Could have made this a short story but then you would have had nothing to do now :D

Good work Geoff, to save a bit of time you could have nudged it up against a powerpole in the street or a Hyundai.

Geoff - Well, it's reassuring to see that I'm not the only one that cobbles up whatever is at hand, to get the job done.
The Yanks talk about "Rube Goldberg" construction efforts, but that pressing arrangement makes Rube look like an amateur.
I trust you did all the engineering calculations to the 6th decimal point, before you chose the materials? .. just to ensure they fell within the relevant Australian Standards specifications? ;)

I guess you should be thankful that the previous amateur operators only wrapped the chain from the Cat D10 around that plate? .. and not around a single front spring perch? .. or God forbid, the centre of the front axle!! (and yes, I've seen the results!).

When I started getting a sizeable amount of equipment, and too large a workforce, I had to get some windscreen and dash decals made.
After several episodes of damage caused by the thoughtless attachment of tow chains to bogged vehicles .. and even worse, direct application of dozer blades/grader moldboards/loader buckets, to the body work (trays) of water trucks, and other vehicles .. I got these nice big, black-on-yellow, decals made up.

They read (in capital letters) .. "THIS VEHICLE IS NOT TO TO BE DEBOGGED BY PUSHING, VIA THE DIRECT APPLICATION OF EARTHMOVING EQUIPMENT BLADES OR BUCKETS TO THE VEHICLE - BUT IT IS TO BE DEBOGGED BY TOWING ONLY, VIA THE CORRECT ATTACHMENT OF TOW CHAINS, TO BOTH CHASSIS RAILS".

After these decals were installed in every ute, truck, service vehicle, water cart, and anything else, not built like a tank, that could be damaged .. the damage bill from the incorrect use of earthmoving equipment used to debog vehicles, reduced considerably.

It's an ongoing education thing, this correct debogging technique. You train up one lot, and another younger generation comes along, with no knowledge of the damage you can do to vehicles, when you use earthmoving equipment to debog them incorrectly.
