nah thats all out of date geoff...
refer to the seqtt 1980 upwards appendix, section 4:
hammers, section 5: rattle guns section 6: glues and gunk
"insert air operated sliastic dispenser nozzle onto flange surface..ensure other end of unit is connected to bulk tanker with 4" connection"
Irrespective of nut or bolt size, torque up with minimum 3/4 rattle gun at 600psi air feed..
any broken studs or bolts can be welded up and diguised with surplus sealant" :-[

if some whinging whining sand groper was carrying on about the excess silastic on the outside, I'd just get the stanley knife out and cut it off, smile and charge him double.

Cam - Yeah, and I guess the smile would be followed by the reassuring patter, that the job comes with a concrete warranty! - off the concrete, end of warranty! .. ;D ;D

Swishys' quip bought a smile to my face. Years ago, my daughters then boyfriend (an idiot) was fitting a new carby to his 253 Holden and asked how tight the nuts should be. Jokingly I told him the same thing and shortly after he comes in and says they won't stay tight. Of course then I had to fix it. Not sure who the dill was!

The correct way is to remove all the studs, draw file the housing surface and diff surface. Re-fit studs. Then apply ultra grey sealant to diff housing. Re-fit centre and torque nuts and bolts to 200ft lb. I like to see some squeeze out cause you know its going to seal. Silastic is cheep here in qld. :D

i think ya missin the point!
i don't have a problem with 'gluin' parts in...
Just the quantity of glue being used per 'glue' job..
i don't reckon the nipstas would send anything lookin like that...no malice intended geoff
