Does make you wonder why the wiring has to be so bad on most old trucks things get put in things get pulled out but why leave the fire hazard to burn the old girls down will be a great classic when sorted

Need some help to get Tacho cable manufacture eg types of ends for both
Also the same for speedo. I would think that there is some sort of standard name for these types of ends and wether they be keyed or square drive.

Hi Geoff
i used Guageworks here in Geelong
blokes name is Luke: 52779296
I had to sample the ends though Geoff.
Its a nuisance pulling the bits out but you will get it right first time..
Sorry i don't have any more 'correct' info..
i do have a little tin full of all different ends and adapters though. Even the sline and transtar are different, although both roadys..
regards

G'day Geoff, I have just been through the cable exercise with my D Reo. I took the tachograph in for a check and clean, removed the tacho and speedo drive end brackets (only a couple of screws) and used a piece of half inch dripper hose to work out the length of cable needed. When I got it back from Guage Works Adelaide it all fitted and worked like it should. Guess I am old enough to have learned that it is better to "cover the bases", especially as I am an hour and a half out of town. Cheers and hope to see you at the White muster.

Geoff, I'll have a look when I'm back at work, I'm pretty sure I've got a tacho cable. The ends are the same on my Road Boss for Tacho and Speedo, and the Reo as well, so I should be able to at least get you the sizes for the ends if the cable isn't there. Flexidrive charged me about $80 for a new speedo cable for the Reo, and the ratio box was about $160.

Well after the initial grieve the power steering leak now appears to be fixed grand sum $10 plus time . But remembering this is just temporary repairs to get the beast going. Without CHOC"s getting over glorified about GMs and oil fuming from air box drains what is excessive. As the manual just refers to making sure that they breath

gday geoff...
from memory they run at about 7? psi in the airboxes..
What is excessive? heaps more oil than air coming out...
Give the ol girl a good run when you a chance..
it should clean up to a fair degree, unless she's getting a bit puffed.. if she's dripping more than you are happy with..mount a tin underneath with a couple of hoses running loosly into the top of it, make sure they can't get blocked..that'll stop it makin a mess on the new house..
Is that the info you were after?
