Hi just looking for some general answer on reliability of the V555 and rebuilding cost or if it cheaper to just re-power the old girl.
Many thanks

Very good reliable diesel for local work or lighter work. Biggest problem is/was if they were used for paid drivers.
This is because the engines tended to be over revved more by paid drivers. (downhill in mountains?) Over rev the 555 & within a short time the flywheels became detached. (saying politely)

My dad had one from 1974-1994 working out of quarries etc. Yes He did rebuild it a couple of times and broke the crankshaft after 12 years service and with an Allison MT650 for 18 years then took my MT653 for the rest of the time. In that 20years, he never changed the water pump.
He has a fuel pump and a few items still laying around. If you are interested just give me a PM.
