The picture below shows the condition of one of the buckets as you can see it has no silver left on it at all, the 2 i am getting done are for the next truck as the ones for the truck i am doing now are in pretty good condition.

the other trick to getting brighter lights is to fit halogen bulbs (providing it is 12 volt). Did that to the P and even with the same wattage as the original bulbs I can now see where I am going.

I should do the Inter one day.

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

Ron

Thanks for the contact (I owe you a colddy or 2)

The aluminising process is called "vacuum metallising", and it appears there are only a few companies in Australia, doing it on a repair basis for older vehicles/headlights.
Zeus Products P/L in Dandenong, appears to be one company that does do it.

www.zeusproducts.com.au/metalllisingobjects.html

Just spoke to Garry at Zues Products and he can do the headlights for about $15-$20 each for the plating plus any prep work required and he said absolute top price would be about $40-$50 each.

There address is 14 Healey Road Dandenong Victoria 3175
The factory works Monday to Thursday 10 to 5

Trevor, that's excellent news. It's not often you get a pleasant surprise when you get a quote nowadays. However, make sure you get it in writing.
Just got some relined brake shoes back from a brake crowd, .. they quoted me $80 verbally, but when I went to pick them up, it was $151! :'(

Part of the price alteration appears to be, that in the deal, the old shoes were returned to me complete, and I got complete new shoes with new linings supplied.
I guess it was because the old linings were asbestos, and they wouldn't touch them as far as removing the old linings went. However, it would have been nice to have that explained to me beforehand.
