Maxidyne Bellhousing Bolts

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows the size of the 12 bolts that hold the bell housing on to the block and what size the 8 bolts are to hold the bellhousing to the chassis. Rather than going in with the original bolts that are badly rusted and hoping I get the right ones I am hoping I can just quote the sizes I need. As always thanks for any help. ;)

Hello
As per my R685 (1969) parts book
Flywheel hsg to block bolts P/N 429GC19 5/8 X 1 11/16 (8) OFF.
Eng rear mounting bracket bolts
P/N 4AX42 3/4-10NC X 1 3/8 (8) OFF.
Washers are also indicated

Later models had rear mounts on gearbox bellhousing

Hope this helps
Gary

Hi Dan- In the early 1980's Mack had a modification if you broke the bolts that hold the clutch housing to the block. They had longer bolts that were a higher grade and thick spacers to go on them. Make sure that the dowels are tight as they locate the housing exactly in the right place. best regards - Michael.

Thanks
Sorry dNr I read a bit quick this morning as the bell housing uses 12 bolts. Its not a big problem I have the originals but they are so rusted I figured I wouldmake the bolt mans job a bit easier. :)

a bit of clarity

When you mount the bellhousing to the block you will need to check that it's going to run true. Mount a dial indicator on the crankshaft and the dial indicator needle inside the machined surface where the gearbox bolts on. Turn the engine slowly and check for run out. You are allowed a few thou run out but best off checking the manual.

I think I miss understood your request

The 12 bolts you speak of are they to mount the gearbox to the engine flywheel hsg as per your recent photo. If so as per the parts book I have it shows the following. 4 off 4AX 4 7/16-14 NC X 1 1/4 and 8 off 4AX 140 7/16-14 NC X 1 1/2.
