Les, you've put the IMG code on the whole photobucket album mate. You are really close to putting the pictures up. All you have to do is hover the arrow over an individual picture, a drop down menu will appear, copy the last one, the IMG code, then paste that on your post just by itself with out using the image code that is on the forum. Had to call on the wife not real good with this sort of thing. My brother and I are going to do this old girl up to her her former glory. Looking forward to it we got this truck off an old bloke who wanted to do it up himself but got crook and can no longer do it. So we bought her and hopefully we can have her back on the road to give him one last ride.We are still doing an inventory on a few parts we need will post more after we have finished. love youre forum have learnt a lot in the few days since i have registered cheers Les

Glennwombat - Unscrew the sump plug and drain some oil to see if there's any water in the bottom of the sump.
Sometimes, old motors spring internal coolant leaks when they've been sitting for a long time, and the coolant gathers in the bottom of the sump.

The oil pump suction screen is on the bottom of the sump and the oil pump picks up all the $h!t that has collected there .. including coolant.
The last thing you want is coolant being pumped around the oil galleries and bearings upon a re-start, after a long time sitting.

In fact, draining all the oil and putting in some new stuff is the way to go. I'd be removing the spark plugs, squirting in some Holts Redex upper-cylinder lube, and cranking her over without compression to get oil pressure up, and get some lube into the bores.
Cylinder bores quite often corrode after just a couple of years sitting without being turned over.

The Redex will clean out the carbon, gums and other crap that has collected over years of work, and give her a good internal tune-up.
Just don't stand near the exhaust when you fire her up, you'll choke on the smoke for the first 5 mins.

any tips on firing up the engine

Remove spark plugs.
Fill cylinders with diesel
Drain old oil from sump and drop some diesel in there.
Change oil filter
Clean up carby
check dissy
empty fuel tank and flush.
gently try turning the motor over by hand. If it moves, pour more diesel in and gently turn it some more
If it doesn't move ... let it soak till next weekend, with a top up as required.
Once it turns freely, drain the sump and fill with oil, drop some oil into the cylinders, and get the carby, dissy, fuel pump, starter motor etc sorted.
