Dave a first class piece of work. Did you sandblast the chassis before painting?

Dave - Re the oil pump. It appears the pump turns anti-clockwise, so you'll have to run the drill in reverse. The pump should pick up oil within a few turns, if all is O.K.
Did you ensure the fittings on the oil pump suction line were tight, and sealing properly?

The oil pump sucks through a big mesh screen that's located in the RHS of the crankcase, and there's a short copper pipe between that screen and the pump.
Any looseness in the copper pipe fittings, or cracks in the pipe, would make the pump unable to pick up oil.

Re the filter .. the oil is pumped to the outside of the filter element and travels through the element, coming out of the inside of the element, via the pipe that is central in the filter body.
The oil then returns to the engine via a short copper pipe, and the clean oil drains back into the engine from this pipe.
Your oil filter is a later design than the one shown in the lube diagram, but the operating principle remains the same.

Thanks Don but last night i sat down and had a think about which way the dizzy spun, i put the drill in reverse and like you said in a few turns it was pumping oil, after about a min i had oil running through the filter case and all along the top rockers.
Im cleaning up and painting the fuel lines today, just need a seal the goes under the glas in the fuel pump, i tried to make one out of some cork gasket but it wasnt thick enough. I will also make up a frame to hold the radiator in place so i can run the motor while i work on the front grill.
I forgot to mention i had troubles getting a timing cover seal, i needed a seal with an od of 2" and an id of 6000 over 1.5". the closes seal i could get was a 2" od and a 1.5" id so i ended up getting a guy down the road to take 6000 off the boss, the seal fetted perfectly.

Max when i started restoring my truck i bought a second truck aswell. the guy had started to do it up, he had sandblasted the chassie and primed it and then top coated it and thats as far as he got. it sat for over 8 years and then he sold it to me. so i started with the chassie partly done, since then i have done the running gear, side steps, tank and tank arms, stearing and the motor. I just need to find one more rim and i can get it to rolling stage. Next job the cab and pannels and then the tray.
