got the Commer going!!!! was created by ComTruck
Couldn't believe it! the gap was set wrong on the dizzy, i fixed that and did the old fuel down the carbi, this was after a full stripdown and rebuild (head, carbi, waterpump etc) all back together, and away she goes!!
i had no spark to start with, this took a while to figure out. there was one wire disconnected in the dash, and as mentioned above the gap was out too. so tomorrow, static timing, and a bit more tinkering to get it right. hopefully i wont burn my hand off this time! big back fire hahaha.
i will post a video tomorrow as well! the old girl is noisy!
this is the thread for the dramas it took to get her up and running

and the pics of the truck.

Comtruck have a look at gauges, switch and the 2 cable heads on your commer and the gauges of the Fargo, they definitely had the same parents.
I'd set the timing at 5degrees then tinker with it,whatever the recommended timing was, those fuels no longer exist,
I use the 95octane with an additive, that ethanol stuff is at it's best mixed in a drip torch.

Inlet opens 9 deg before TDC
Exhaust opens 51 deg before BDC
Exh tappet: .014 cold
Inlet tappet: .012 cold
Set points opening at TDC, fully retarded
gap: .010 to .012
Plugs: Champion N8
gap: .028 to .032
I think this motor was also used in the big Humber cars, so this may be a source of more info.

Thanks Beaver! no idea where you managed to find all of that! very handy info. she seems to be running well, I may have a bit of an oil leak to contend with now.
Cheers once again
