Old Bedford "K" series truck info was created by Beddy42
Hi All
I have just been given a Bedford K series 30wt pickup and was wanting to restore it. Does anyone know where to start. It is in reasonable order with only one small spot of rust in the passenger firewall about the size of a 20 cent piece. It was an old CFA Truck and looks like it has hit a stump or something on the drivers side as the bumpa bar is pushed in and the fender and bottom of the cowl are reasonably bent up (repairable). Any info on what to do and "other" K Bedford trucks would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Beddy
There's a couple of guys on here (Davefarma for one) who are actively restoring K-types at the moment - www.hcvc.com.au/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1327573961
I'm not far north of you so drop me a line if you have time. Are you a member of any of the historic vehicle clubs in Wagga? They would be a good place to start for advice.
Do you have any pics of the truck?

Hi Andy
No Pics as yet as I only picked it up on the weekend, will put some up on the weekend. Have given it a pressure wash and am just looking into what needs doing. How about you? What projects have you got on the go?

The Albury - Wodonga branch of the HCVCA has members in your area. If you have a look under the events section there are a couple of contact numbers there. If you can't find their details send me a PM and I will send you their chairman's details

Look forward to the pics.
Everything's a project, mate. LOL. Current one - more active than the others but that's not hard - is a 1973 Albion Reiver. Collecting bits, reference material and knowledge mainly at present due to other constraints on my time.

Hi All
Try'd to turn the old girl over tonight with out any luck. So cracked the top of it only to find No 2 piston is locked tight. Looks like I've got a very long road infront of me to get this ol girl back on the road. But should be worth it.

HI steve, I was in your exact place about 9 months ago when i started my resto. When i started i basically pulled the truck apart, took everything off and started fresh. I wish i had labled more parts, took more pics and put spesific nuts, bolts and etc in jars or tins and labled them. I did it to a point but if i had done it more i would have saved myself a lot of time down the track, it took me an hour the other day to work out how the clutch and break pedel assembly fitted to the side of the engine. But i have to say the best bit of advice i can give is ask plenty of questions on here.

Got to agree with the other members, take plenty of photos. I,ve been restoring for over 40 years and at times i havent taken any photos thinking i,ll remember but when it comes time to reassemble you do forget. Pulling apart is the easy bit. I take pictures of everything. Anyway good luck with your project you will have a lot of fun and its great to see another Beddy being saved.
Cheers Hardshar.

Hi All
Back again. Got the heart out of the ol girl and as I thought No2 and 5 where stuck fast but finally let go after a lot of swinging and swearing at it. I still can't get the Idea out of my head that the motor is an old Chev blue flame as everything looks nearly identical. It is stamped GMH but the head gasket and other bits look identical to the old 37 chev owners manual I have here. Can anyone shed some light or am I barking up the wroung tree?
