Best way I found is cut the bottom off it if they are that rusty then you can clean it easy I have done to a few tanks and it works just fine. dave

Depending on how bad it is, check out KBS

they have a tank repair kit, that looks interesting, havnt had the need to test it out myself so I dont know if its as good as it looks.

Definitely go the POR15 fuel tank treatment kit.
I used it and it worked great.
First step is a cleaner, then a phosphoric acid cleaner and zinc phosphate sealer and the final step is another sealer.
Costs a bit but it also seals up any pin holes.

is POR 15 the one you see where they connect the tank to a cement mixer in the adds . Dave ???

I have to get a steering wheel repair kit eventually.
Their Metal Ready and Marine Clean products are excellent. Have used them alot, highly recommended.

I have had 2 steering wheels repaired using same sort stuff as POR 15 and have turn out very well you wouldnt know they had been repaired . Dave

Hi, Would suggest that you make sure you get fuel tank really clean. I have now had two fuel tanks in different projects which I thought where clean but held me up along the road. Clogged fuel filters high fuel consumption and parked up along side of road. > Replaced one with a stainless steel tank, and the other I used Red Kote on which worked well . Have used fishing sinkers to knock rust off count them going in and out lol.
